Welcome to my Digital Domain - www.williamgreenshields.co.uk and thank you for visiting my website.

This site is the starting point for anyone wishing to purchase my books which are based on my real life experiences!

The first book is entitled 'Greenshields - A Glasgow Cop'.The second book is entitled 'Greenshields a Glasgow Cop 2'. They are factual accounts of my career in Strathclyde Police. From walking the beat in the East End of Glasgow to becoming a C.I.D officer and Drugs Squad officer, arresting housebreakers, murderers, rapists, robbers, drugs dealers, terrorists and many, many more criminals. It is earthy and laced with humour.

Book 1 GREENSHIELDS a GLASGOW COP ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ My father was George Greenshields and he had an uncle named David, it turned out that George and David junior were second cousins of mine. I was fortunate enough to be on duty when the warrants for their arrest were granted. I physically laid hands on George Greenshields and arrested him for murder. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Andy 'moon man' abused the right to be ugly.He was often to be seen strutting along Duke Street wearing a T-shirt bearing the words "Andy says Beardy sucks". My parishioners didn't love me. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________

I asked if he was in a position to hand the guns over.

"Aye" he replied,"I'm Arthur Thomson's armourer."

 _________________________________________________________________________________

...in he came, dressed just as the first victim had said, all in black, with the home made ski mask, black gloves and a big curved sword.

__________________________________________________________________________________

Across the room, lying on the floor below a radiator was what I would describe as being an alligator. This was a lizard of about three feet in length.I closed the door and decided to say nothing, someone else could have the pleasure of finding that.

I lifted the coffee tin and had a  wee look at McLean. He was almost sliding down the wall.I took a tablespoon from his cutlery drawer and levered the top off the tin.The smell of cats piss would have knocked you onto your back. The tin was crammed full of Amphetamine paste which has a smell reminiscent of cats pee.

Reviewed in The Scots Magazine "these insights into the career of a Glasgow cop have a raw authenticity.A fascinating, sometimes amusing, occasionally shocking collection of anecdotes".

Reviewed in The Police History Society newsletter "His memoirs are a mixture of gritty reality, grim humour and righteous anger at the injustice of the justice system". "This is a highly readable and entertaining book: an excellent antidote to the implausibilities of Taggart".

Glasgow Evening Times:Shettleston-born Willie who lives in East Kilbride, had a remarkable career with the force. He spent much of it with "E" Division which covers his beloved East End,rose to the rank of detective and graduated to the Drugs Squad.

Over a coffee in a Glasgow pub, he's frank about why he wrote the first book and is now working on its follow-up.

"I have so much knowledge of criminality in Glasgow inside my head,I don't want it to be forgotten,if I didn't write it down it could have been lost forever, that would have been a terrible waste, quite unforgivable.Everything is factual".

Willie comes across in the books as being all too human.
